yep the peacock tank fry are definately bigger maybe its the temperature because the original tank is hotter so i think they grow faster in cooler water??? o well today i think the adult ate all the remaining babies except one so i saved that one so heres a lesson learnt never put rice3fish babies with there parents i've still got 6 of them though .

It should be the other way round. The warmer the faster they will grow.

my sons medekas are sitting in margarine tubs etc on the cabinet next to his tank, only now there are three tubs. one for the four bigger fish thats a 1ftx1ftx1ft container, one with two in and one with one in cos they all seem to grow at a different rate and i had to seperate the three smallest cos the biggest two were chasing him. had seven smaller ones originally but only three left now cos others died. but 4 biggest ones very healthy and im hoping to be able to put them in with the wcmm in about a month. theyre eating the powdered food now and readily taking it from the top.

wait stop b4 u buy wwcm with your medakas listen to my advice. medakas can be really aggressive especially the javanicus because i duno what happens but sometimes the anal fin of some of them will have threads coming off it. what species do you keep?

the wcmm are already here. they are what we had before the medekas. thats why i wanted the rice fish sos they can all go in the tank together. the wcmm are all adults so i cant put the medekas in until i am sure they are big enough to not get eaten. i think the fact that they are a lot smaller will make them more timid until they get used to the tank and by then hopefully the two species will be used to each other. ive heard of people keeping them together in the past.

like i said it depends on the species . if its just the normal oryzias latipes then its kk but if it was my javanicus i once put wwcm withthem then the next morning the wcmm died one by one

theyre just the plain golden medekas, i think theyre latipes. theyre my sons really its just that at ten he needs a lot of help with them. hubby is already complaining about the growing number of tubs in his bedroom. ive tried to explain about keeping the sizes different to not have them turn into dinner for someone else, but he just sees untidy tubs. hes a bit of a minimalist always looking at everyones belongings and asking why we need all this stuff. im the worst wife for him i suppose as im a bit of a colleptomaniac. as im interested in all kinds of textiles i pick up material and other useful stuff whenever i see it. just in case it comes in useful. its never let me down before. at college whenever i had to produce samples of things i always could think i know ive got some like that. it helps when you have like two days to produce something and you dont have time to spend a day looking round shops for supplies. you can go straight home and start work. thats why i rarely fail deadlines.
