lol wow i did some research on the 'hydra' and they have found out to be not hydra but 'moss animals', lol wat a funny name. scientific name for them is Bryozoa but strange thing it ses they live in marine tanks but it explains sumthin coz i do have java moss in my tank. they are definately not hydra coz the 'moss animals' are all attached to eachother and dont break of. can i keep them now?

i've never heard of them.
strange things though.
it says on the page i looked at 'Certain freshwater species occasionally form great jellylike colonies so huge they clog public or industrial water intakes.'
if they pose no threat and can be controled, then i see no reason why u can't keep them.but the emphasis seems to be they will become a nuisance in time.

in a long while. they dont seem to be growing much and i bet there gonna die soon because they'll just run out of food.

as far as i can tell, they will be filter feeders so will catch food particles out of the water, most to small for us to see, so i think they will survive.
if u want to keep them, u can buy invert foods from your lfs.

Dont think they will be much of a threat to your adult fish, just see how it goes.

nah keith i dont love them that much lol. atm (at the moment) i have split the ricefish adults into 2 groups, 3males 1 fem in the 48 inch tank and 3 m 1 f + 6 4 week old fry in the 30cm tank and the fry seems to be doing very well with the adults . i was afraid that the bigger adults wud eat them so i put the big ones in the 48 inch tank. the moss animals are just minding there own buisness and dont seem to be growing! the fry are nearly 3 times bigger than them so i dont think they'll have trouble and my second batch is growing very fast and they'll be in the moss animals tank by the end of half term.

ok emergency my adult ricefish are suddenly dieing one by one ! since they decay so quickly once they die it was hard to determine how they died. maybe it was the temoerature.
